Objectives for Mastery
This unit consists of the following objectives for you to master. For links to notes and assignments related to each specific objective, click the objective or scroll down to find what you need.
This objective includes ionic naming, acid naming, hydrate naming and covalent naming (not organic). The compounds will be mixed up so you will need to identify the appropriate naming rules based on the type of compound.
Empirical and Molecular Formulas
Lewis Structures and VSEPR
If I include this objective this year, it will be the first time in honors chem. It is a result of a new Virginia Standards of Learning: The student will investigate and understand how basic chemical properties relate to organic chemistry and biochemistry. Key concepts include a) unique properties of carbon that allow multi-carbon compounds; and b) uses in pharmaceuticals and genetics, petrochemicals, plastics, and food.
